Welcome to the Fix Me Fancy family! My name is Jenneca and I want to tell you a little story: One Wednesday in elementary school we impatiently sat, waiting for the morning announcements. But instead of hearing our principal’s voice come over the intercom, we heard the electric guitars and groovy voices of Kool & the Gang fill the room as their song “Celebration” was played throughout the entire school. We were told to get out of our chairs and dance. I looked around at my peers and they were just as confused as I was, but tentatively we got up and moved around. Every Wednesday after that, “Celebration” came on and we were expected to get up and dance. To be honest it wasn’t until many years later that I finally understood why our principal wanted us to dance and celebrate every Wednesday. Now that I understand though, that lesson has stuck with me. He was trying to teach us that there are always reasons to celebrate. We didn’t celebrate on Friday because it was the weekend, we didn’t celebrate because we were about to leave for Christmas break. It wasn’t a birthday, or a holiday or anything special at all. In fact there was no point to celebrating and that was exactly the point. We didn’t need a special reason because sometimes you just have to get up and dance to the fact that it’s Wednesday and you’re still breathing.
I am your average amateur rock climbing, rookie guitar playing, volleyball loving, craft doing, mess making, watercolor painting, food enthusiastic, nap taking, adventure going, life-loving 22-year-old college student. Life is messy and sometimes hard, and I think we're all still trying to figure it out. But I truly believe that life is beautiful and worth celebrating together. I hope this is a place where we can come together and use our gifts and talents to give, share and celebrate.
When I was 4, I went on a hike with my mom. When she stopped to rest I grabbed her by the arm and said, "We can do it if we do it together." So let's enjoy life together.
